Feeling Discouraged

Hello Everyone! Well, it seems as though history is repeating itself for me. Currently I've been working in a logistics company in NYC for 3 years, and the iffy feeling I've had when I started became stronger and now reality is setting in. My base pay was great, and I do have okay insurance within this company, however I have not found any job stability in years. My last employer decided to get rid of their entire staff and rehired younger people for less pay. Now I come here and here we go again with the nonsense. To sum it up... My company now does not offer direct deposit anymore... why????? they do not have the funds in their account on time to pay us. So now, it has gotten to the point where our checks our given to us every other Friday, however we cannot cash or deposit it until the following week. To top it off, we've just found out that one of our warehouses are closed do to non payment of rent. I do have a great resume with years of experience in the EDI, Account specialist field, as well as Administration. And At this time I am actively looking elsewhere. So any help towards reputable companies out there anyone can throw out within the NJ, NYC area will be greatly appreciated. I just wish employers would value their employers more and keep an open communication.

Trust your instincts! Keep actively job hunting. Sounds like you have great experience, so just keep searching until you find a company that isn't acting shady. Good luck!

It sounds like this company is going out of business fast. Sorry to say it but need to get your resume out there asap. When you go on interviews you can say exactly what you just described. Good luck.

Hi.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this, but it's also a good thing that you're seeing the signs ahead: The warehouse closure(s) due to non-payment, ACH deposit cancellation for employees, etc. The company might slowly be preparing to officially close, which would make sense as to why you're noticing these problems. Try www.indeed.com and find positions in your area to start applying to. You can also check www.craigslist.org for your area though it's not a site I'd normally recommend, I can't judge it too much considering that some jobs can be acquired from it. So hopefully you can find something better and make your transition more smoothly. Good luck!

Don't get discouraged companies close their doors all the time. It's up to the employee to know when it's time to go.

Get a job recruiter who can start looking at jobs for you. Ensure that your resume is up to speed and get a reference from them while you still can. There on the way out, you may show up to work one day and the doors are closed so act swiftly. Keep your chin up, there's always hope, there's tomorrow....just start planning from today.

In addition to filing a complaint with the Labor Board, make your exit before you get stiffed for those paychecks. Sounds like just a matter of time before their checks start to bounce and you will have to make good on the deposited check (s) returned on your account. It's not worth it. Also try to get letters of recommendation on company letterhead from your supervisor/management , for future use. Also try to get personal contact information in case you need references and the company is out of business. Good luck, Phillip W.

What they are doing with your paychecks and telling you not to cash it until the following week is 100% illegal. Please contact the NY Board of Labor immediately and they will resolve it. You can even do this anonymously.

Hi there, Welcome to Jobcase! The first thing you will want to do is take a few minutes to completely fill out your profile. Make sure to include your current location, previous jobs with description, and education. This will help other Jobcasers to send you jobs they run across that might be good for you.

After you have done this, you can use these steps to start your job search: 1.Click on “Jobs & Companies” at the top of the page 2.Enter a job into the search field that says “Position” 3.Click on the blue button to search for that position in your area 4.Once the list is up, click on “View Job" of any you are interested in to apply. Let me know if you need anymore help!
