Stuck inside all day

I feel like I’m trapped inside my accounting office all day! Anyone got any tips for making the most of summer, even with a 9-to-5 job?

The best thing to do is take a break away from your desk to give your mind a mental break, even if it is walking around your office building or eating your lunch outside by sitting on area near your workplace or even going out to lunch and bringing it back. I have even some individuals walk the parking garage during their lunch hour. If you stay at your desk all day it could cause you to get burnout and you do not want to get that.

Hi, Rose. A change is as good as a rest. Do not eat your lunch at your desk and be at your desk from 9-5 if you can help it. Go outdoors, even if it is only for 20 minutes it still makes a difference. If there is no outdoor patio at your business office, see if there is a park nearby you can walk to and walk in. If not, walk around the block at a leisurely stroll and breathe slowly and deeply, letting your thought wander. If you can take a buddy with you to walk and and talk with, that would be delightful, too. Plan Saturdays for outdoor trips. And wear sunscreen!

I go for a run or for a walk in the mornings. I know it's kind of hard to do because it means waking up earlier than you probably want to but I've found that if I spend some time outside before work I feel a lot better throughout the day. I also try to go for a walk whenever I can at lunch! I guess my plan only works if you like walking :)

Wish I had that problem. I now work in a group home and believe me I wish I was back in accounting.

Map out a safe area near your job where you can go for a walk during your lunch break. 15-30 minutes is enough time to cover about half a mile walking normally. It's good exercise and get you out of the office.
