Still in awe...
I have been job hunting since January and we all know what a pleasant experience it is. I have been discouraged, depressed, nervous, and tired beyond belief from not sleeping and worryingabout everything. If any of you guys aren't using ZipRecruiter, I strongly encourage you to try it out. I was on Indeed, Monster, Career Builder, and the only one I ever got a response from, and interviews with was ZipRecruiter. I have been in an office/customer service environment for the last 10 years, but not sales. All the interviews and phone calls were from companies wanting sales....until the week before last. Front Desk Receptionist with a company not too far from me, so I jumped right on it and applied, along with a few other Administrative positions. I received an email from the hiring manager through ZipRecruiter and scheduled the interview for the next day, Wednesday. I show up at least 5 minutes early and there were people in front of me, and people interviewing after me were already showing up. The interview itself was nerve rattling because I was doing all the talking, asking all the questions. I sent him a thank you note through ZipRecruiter and he replied that I would know something by Friday, as he had more people to interview Thursday. The negative thoughts started creeping in.....around 4pm Thursday he called and asked if I had thought anymore about the position, to which I replied "when can I start?" Last week was my first week there and I still have to keep pinching myself to make sure it's not a dream. I know it's not all going to be perfect, but I find myself wanting to do my absolute best because so far, it's one of the best places I have worked in. So even when you feel yourself getting discouraged and depressed, just keep on fighting. I'm not young, I'm in my 40's and it's a reality check when you have to get out there in the job hunt again.

Interviewers look for things that make you stand out from the rest (other than work history, skills, etc. ) They like when you ask questions, it amplifies your interest. Plus, the fact that you sent a thank you also means something. Somewhere along the way, I was told to always follow up with a thank you , it could mean the difference of you getting the job over someone else. Congratulations and good luck with your new position!!

Omg! You look so young...thanks SO MUCH for sharing. I'm so thankful you got hired. Blessings!
I totally agree with you, I know what that’s like. Getting back into the hunt can be very taxing on you. When you start to feel discouraged or depressed it’s always good to say a prayer. I’ve found that it will relax you
