With over 20yrs experience in the field of Manufacturing, I can state; "Challenges offer knowledge and experience". I was instructed to build a "box dumper" for a customer. It simply had to lift a gaylord high enough to allow it's contents to be dumped into another gaylord. There was remnants of old box dumpers around so fabrication of the framework was a simple process of measuring, cutting and welding. That was obviously the simple steps. Now I had to calculate the hydraulic system needed to operate this operation. Desiging it to function safely and efficiently. After calculating size of cylinder and ram needed it was simple indexing for size of pump and motor needed to complete the system. Project complete "NOPE". For the motor to run its accompanied with a starter. The motor and starter must be compatible, in all my experiences the starter for any and all motors has always been predetermined and provided. (This was a time before Google) Never before had I been given such a project to be created entirely from scratch.The experience and knowledge I gained from this achievement was so incredibly enlightening as well as humbling.
