Receptionist
For some reason I haven't gotten any replies regarding positions and I have a feeling it's because I'm not currently working and I have not held a position with a company in some time although the upside to it is when I have worked with a facility you can tell I stay for a good length of time. I haven't been working because I have been the primary provider taking care of my grandmother with dementia this has been my job for quite sometime so maybe I need to write a cover letter stating that. What is your opinion?

Hi Shoney,
It is a possibility - it's true that it's easier to find a job when you have a job, because you're more desirable as a current employee than someone on the job hunt.
Try and think of some skills you've learned and/or developed while taking care of your grandmother. Communication via setting up appointments or making sure the family knows what's up? Time management? Organization? You can apply these to the current job and use your experience taking care of her as a job.
If you are going to write a cover letter, I recommend taking that route.
I hope this helps Shoney Ziessler !
Have you looked into the possibility of being a receptionist in the health care industry? Nursing homes, assisted living facilities and such types of facilities can really benefit from someone with your skills, experience and heart for the elderly and those that need our love and not be shelved in some cold heartless place and forgotten. Thank you for making a difference. We need more people like you in this fast paced world. I wish you much happiness in that you find that special job that needs you as much as you need it.
