Questions!!

So I started my new job, I was informed by a girl in the office that I would be paid mileage while in training, during my new hire paperwork. I traveled 126 miles one way, was in training, stayed at a hotel paid by the company during the week, and then traveled home on the weekend. I have traveled over 500 miles while in training. Well, now it's time for payroll, I was just informed that because I stayed in a hotel the mileage would not be compensated for, plus during the interview I was told that the work was shift pay at $180 a shift, now I was told that it's going to be $160 a shift during training. So, the jist of this is....I'm losing mileage @.50 a mile, plus $20 a day. I was told different!!!!

Discuss this with your employer to be clear on what was offered.

It sounds like there were some misunderstandings and things were not clarified in the interview. If it was either paid hotel or mileage they should have told you so and also indicated that your shift would be $160 during training. If it goes to $180 after you have trained I think that is reasonable. You may have to eat the expenses and make them a tax deductible expense on your tax return. If you like the position enough it may be worth it just to keep quiet and get it in writing next time so there is no confusion. Some things in life are just not fair and it will always be that way.

They're always informed if it's not in writing they can change. Is it a customer service job? The company might not have very good customers.

Ask for the head employer of the company to talk to the office, so you can be compensated on the payment that was missing. Also if so,put it on your account, total It,and remember how much of wages were paid.

Find another job ! The company is starting off on the wrong feet already. Are you with the company full time ? Are you contacted through them ? The reason I asked the question Because being hired with the company you get company benefits under contracts the company wants to pay you less and play games when it's time to pay ! God forbids if you get involved in a accident they don't want to pay workers compensation . Not trying to discourage you don't allow them to play with your money !!!

That sucks. Do you have anything in writing that says what you should have been paid? This company sounds shady as hell. I hope you can get this resolved.
