How can I change my resume to apply for a job I’m over-qualified for?
It’s an entry level position with a good company but I’m afraid they will not consider my application because of my current qualifications.

Do not give the employer a double list of qulifications , only give the employer information on position which you are applying for , stay within your job description

Hi- As always, redo the resume so that you indicate in each job listed how you excelled in the specifics of the job you're going after. Leave out the details of the irrelevant ( albeit ) terrific accomplishments that fall into the over qualified category. The therapist that I am wants to ask why you'd not go for all you're qualified for. Might be reasons, I know.

If you go for jobs you are over qualified for boredom will set in and you may grow to hate it or you could ask for your work and pay to be reviewed in 3 months and renegotiate the salary and ask if there is a fast track system for promotion.

Mrs. Porter why an overqualified candidate such as yourself will be qualifying for an entry level position? Unless the potential of the company that you are applying for compensates for the step down in career, I find it difficult to understand. If time is a conditioning factor, due to family, particular life events, or may be other responsibilities are limiting your avenues, still you can find jobs that compensates you for your education and professional background. Any step down will be difficult to pick up, unless you have a plan to pull forward, such as having reviewed the revenues and potential of the company towards your future or have talked to the employer about what you are willing to do to accept a job in a company that you regard that much, so they can see the value of what you have to offer. You may be willing to take a cut in salary, and step down, by don’t take a cut in your hard work achievements. In my opinion, this does not disregard you for being overqualified but shows that you have a genuine interest in that position for whatever reasons you have.

This is a great question, I would like to work for some companies that offer great opportunities, however, with my MBA, they think I am over qualified, please help me convince them to hire me for a job I am overqualified for but willing to work for this dynamic company

I've always been told fit the resume to the position your applying for. Emphasize why you would be a good fit for the position.

Hi Rachel, I'm sure there's a way to disguise your resume but I wouldn't recommend it. Use a cover letter to explain your interest instead.
Rachel, I have grappled with this issue before. I will probably never know whether my decisions were right or wrong but....here you go! First of all; I will NOT hide, downplay, or disguise my life. I may not have all the accolades you have obviously earned, but what I have accomplished is not something that should be diminished. I will not apologize for always striving to learn more ...to be more. Secondly; to make the most out of my job search; I create a standard resume that can be used in several different venues to expand my search and customize the cover letter to fit the job. Finally, ....there are companies out there looking for "disposable" people. They just need a body and "entry level" is the term most often used. You don't want those jobs anyway.
