HELP!!!!!!!!
I lost my job in the oil industry back in 2015. I went almost a year before I landed an opportunity to help out a company by coming to work for them while I am able to find a job. I fell in love with my job but they don’t want to budge with the salary, which is awful by the way, nor provide me with benefits. Keep in mind, I am a single mother with 2 kids who borrows money for rent every month. I have been looking like crazy, online, networking and working with recruiters. Why does it seem so hard to get a job these days? I feel like I am doing everything I should be doing. I have talked to several people regarding my resume which they say is great! I am not scared to talk to people. Is there any advice you can give that may help improve my efforts?
Hi Angela, I agree. Finding a job is one thing but finding the RIGHT job is another thing altogether. Is there another position you can aspire to within the company that meets your salary and benefits requirements? It's a good idea to explore all of your options in the job your currently in rather than going to another job where you risk starting all over again. The oil industry has been hit hard over the last few years and although it has been making a comeback the process to reach full employment is stagnant. Have you considered a career change? Hi Angela, That is definitely a tough situation and I totally understand why you need something different. It seems like you are doing all of the right things in the job search, what type of roles are you applying for? It may be worth looking at some larger companies/corporations as well. The typically have good benefits and may have some roles that you can join the company in and then grow from there.
I would recommend you keep working hard and talking to as many people as you can. The more jobs you apply to the better chances you have but I know you are in need of the right type of position.
