Small Business Owner

Self employed business owner

I haven't worked since 2000 after an injury on the job had to have surgery and 2003 relocated to Atlanta. I started my own cleaning business 2012 which was ok I had a couple of clients so I was in a bad car accident in 2015 and I lost my clients so I was asked to do home health aide and I loved that job and unfortunately the patient passed away in April 2016 so now I've been looking for another job just like that one but I am not certified and my cleaning business was a flop because I did things the old school way I put business cards here and there and I did flyers and I did the web pages and not so good turn out. I have been filing out applications for everything from home health aide to data entry to work from home to no phone calls no responses no interviews what should I do ?

There's a number of things you can try including apply to employment agencies for placement. I don't like going through them because getting direct hire or contract to hire positions sometimes are few and far between, but at least it's a paycheck. The other options I can suggest are these. 1. Check state, county and local personnel departments for job openings. Get a profile started with Monster or Career Builder and get your resume out there. For home health aide, check with the personnel listings for convalescent homes to see who is hiring. Also check companies such as Visiting Angels and companies like that to see if they have openings that fit your experience and skill set. As to data entry...same as above regarding checking municipality, county and state websites as well as check with the headhunter agencies to see what they have and sign up for other job network sites to get listings mailed to you. As to the house or business cleaning....may be an idea to check the websites for hotels in your area. Also, if you have the money, you can probably post advertisements for your services with county and state bar associations and other business associations to see if you can drum up some business. Hope this helps!

Hi Amanda, Welcome to Jobcase! Sorry to hear of the passing of your patient. Have you been following up on the applications you have submitted? I would definitely recommend doing this if you haven't. You can either call the companies you've applied for or stop by in person if you're able. Doing a Google search will usually give you the phone number. I hope this helps!
