Project Schedules
What tools does your organization use to track and share the project schedules? For instance... Do you use software tools? Do you post the schedule or milestones anywhere? Does the system have reminders for people when they have a deliverable due? Who on the project team has access to change the schedule and who can view it?

Robin, I have to apologize, I am not a project manager, but seeing your posts has made me wonder how you broke into it? What is it that interests you about it, and what makes you good at it? I've been looking for office work and I'm wondering if I have what it takes to look into it as a possible career.

Back to the original topic for this thread... what scheduling tools do you use and how do you share the project schedule? In one of my last positions, the schedule was in Excel. It was very simple with one cell representing a week in a horizontal timeline. I also made a list of some of the project's key milestones and activities which I posted on the wall over my desk. Project management software has several advantages over this. And I prefer to keep the master copy online somewhere that all team members can access (even if it's view-only), but this is what was requested by that organization. I'd be interested in hearing about others' experiences and preferences.
