Unjustified Termination

I moved to Lubbock area on September 16th, 2017 for better job opportunities. I have 32 yrs experience with In-Home Care. Was hired at a local agency on Oct 4th, 2017. All the clients were very satisfied with my work ethics. I was off duty on Oct 11th, 2017 & was going to send my boyfriend a text when I accidentally sent it to this agencies on-call #. It just so happened to be the G.M.'s evening. The text expressed my feelings about having a stressful day. I realized my index finger hit the wrong contact & I immediately sent a Opps text. My shift on Oct 12th started @ 9am & at 9:30am recv'd text from G.M. to stop by office after my shift ended @ 4pm. I complied. I explained it was an honest mistake and I was told I wasn't the RIGHT FIT for this company. I calmly said, let me go out to car and get my picture I.D. badge. So now I'm again pounding the pavement. Lousy Company!

Sorry to hear that this happened. They could have at least been honest about why they were letting you go. Unfortunately, because of the "at will employee"(I'm assuming you were an "at will" employee at this company) labor laws prevalent in all 50 states, there isn't much that can be done about it. I was in a similar situation myself when I was fired from a job when I was living in Florida back in 12-13. When they let me go, I asked why. My manager proceeded to give me three different reasons, none of which jibed with the reason that human resources gave me when I asked them the same question. They told me I had "lied to their customer(s) and members of their support staff". This is completely ridiculous and aggregious, but since Florida is a "right to work" state, I had no legal recourse. More like a "get fired for no reason completely out of the blue and be out upwards of 7 thousand dollars in moving expenses, state". It's lousy what these creeps can get away with because of the "at will employment" laws

Research becoming your own company get bonded and incorporated then, employ yourself and other's. Give this agency some competition. I'm sure other people would rather work for a FAIR company.

Unfortunate but if they got upset about that, it's not the place you want to be working anyway. I'm sure that you will find another opportunity soon. Best wishes and God bless!

Employers and employees no longer have to have reasons to let you go nor need a reason to leave. Most places are "At Will". Forget about it. Lick your wounds...move on. Be better than them and you are going to find a better job. Let it go...don't dwell.

Working with human clients can be stressful at times. Are we suppose to pretend that clients can't stress us out at times? As long as you are at work and on time, being stressed out due to working with clients shouldn't result into termination. He shouldve talked to you, then observed you to see if you aren't fit for the job! Always check to see whom you are calling/ texting before you do so.

Ooooh! That stings! That is a shame. I know the second you hit send you regretted it. I'm so sorry. You are probably better off. The GM could've pretended to ignore having received your email and just quietly monitored you or the situation. He/she could've used your insight as an opportunity to improve. Their loss is probably your gain. You will find a better job that will appreciate or welcome your insight. Best of luck!
