Scared at starting over!
I am terrified about looking for a job again. I have no idea about the resume ...trying to convince a business to hire me... 48 yrs old and stuck!

There is free resume writing online and your local library

Dear Ms. White, I am sorry about the loss of your long time job. You should go to a book store and buy a copy of a simple book with examples of how to type a resume. If you on unemployment ask if your entitled to job training? Second thought, it will be discouraging at times, but you will find another job, you are not old, but experienced in working and your loyalty will show through on the resume as someone reliable and responsible. Remember, you are special, few hold a job as long as you did. Put your head up and show your pride and confidence. You will apply to many jobs and yes, you can and will get hired based on your record of holding a steady job. Good luck, and I will pray for your continued success.

When I was offered a buyout and the job ended, I started out by signing up for a free Career Transition Workshop. These workshops are quite helpful. They will assist you in getting a resume updated and will provide information on how to apply for jobs and offer job referrals. I was informed as well to sign up for the free Link-in to connect with people who may have job leads. It is more or less like a network of professionals. By the way, I am older than you.

You aren't alone! Networking, asking around, and above all, volunteering to keep up your skills is important and helps you keep going. When I volunteered at a local church office I was able to get good letters of reference and some job leads. Ditto when I volunteered at a charity thrift store. Don't be afraid to let everyone know you are looking for work and are willing to work! And remember--YOU AREN'T ALONE.

Hi Brandi. Stay positive. Focus on your strenghts. Your years of experience and most importantly on your skill and you will do okay. Also don't forget God is on your side so stay favored, work hard on making as much contact with people in your field of work. Good luck and God bless

Hello Brandi my name is D'Andre I can't say that I understand your situation because I don't, but my mother probably can I help her with her resumes and keeping her staying positive. I don't know if you have any sons but I'm going to tell this as if I was your son. You are stronger than what you think you are, I went to school for graphic design for two years and came out with no job but only 23, 000 dollars of loans and working in a hotel. No one want hire me because I don't have all the skills and no bachelor degree or higher but with faith and waiting on the Lord I'm doing my own design work. Brandi the Lord didn't take you this far to just drop you off now he has something cooking and I can smell it. Please keep your head up and know that you will be working in a decent company soon. Though your 48 Abraham and Sarah had a child in their 100 of ages all things are possible. God bless stay strong.

I'm exactly were your at. But you have confront that fear because that fear has a more dramatic word & consequences which is Depression. So today I call my ex employer to see if they can give me a chance. & I should hopefully find out in an hour. But it took me 2 years to make that call.
So just set your mind & what's the worst it could happen. They say No well no in a better place because even tough you did not get what you wanted you confronted your fear.
By the way I'm 47 years old
Good Luck
