Overqualified???
I keep submitting resumes and either pretty much told that I'm overqualified for a lot of positions or I don't have a masters degree. I have had two jobs in 21 years and have run two companies of 50 or less employees. It's been 7 long months and it is getting pretty discouraging. Anyone else have this problem

Yeah. I know that feeling. I have been out of work since November of last year. I have been applying at jobs since then. I had worked at Johnson Controls as a Run Tester. I had done just about every position out there. I worked there just a little over 21 years. I was making just under $20 per hour. I keep getting rejected from simple jobs. They tell me a more qualified candidate filled the spot. I talked with some temp agencies and they told me it looks like you are over qualified. I bring in a wonderful resume, education background, previous authenticity of 20 years of service with Johnson Controls as well as printed forms of identification. I admit I feel discouraged. I thought something was wrong with me. I have not given up hope. I am continuing to try, but I would like to have some success. Well take care and good luck on your job searches.

Hey I'm with ya! I retired from Publix Supermarket after Forty years and I was manager for 32 years and keep getting the same response...

Yes I've experienced the same over the past year and a half...I am 50 years old and feel I'm being discriminated against based on my age. I'm still looking for work to this day. So discouraging.

Welcome to my world. This is ridiculous , that we are (OVERQUALIFIED)

Hi Joe, I can't begin to tell you how many other members I've had the opportunity to correspond with over the last 3 years who've felt challenged trying to maneuver through similar obstacles of the job search process. Technological changes combined with the demand for specific skills and cultural adaptability has revolutionized the employment community. Take some comfort knowing that you are not alone and try not to get discouraged.
