105 miles?!?! That's nuts. I bet you wouldn't have work life balance if you drove that much on a daily basis. I think it depends on what you do. If you're looking for a physical type job I feel like some managers might wonder how effective you'd be, but for an office job I don't see how it would be a consideration. Most people don't stay at jobs for 25+ years anymore so it's not like many places are expecting you to have a long tenure there. Keep looking and if you think it's a problem just take the dates off your resume so hiring managers can't do mental math on your age.
That's a lot!! I was crying about driving 8 miles to my work location, mind you that's going the street way and no highway, I would faint if I had to drive 105 miles daily. Are you taking mileage on your taxes, and have you checked with local recruiters to see if they could help you find something closer to home? Also, have you spoken to your manager about the possibility of working from home and maybe making that commute like once a week or maybe even a trip to the home office as needed? I would not worry about your age so much, you obviously have viable skills and experience, definitely check with a recruiter to see what they can find for you.
