Recently i have had several interviews. In doing follow-ups I have been deemed Over Qualified. i have spoken to a few friends about this, I have been told that I may need to "Dumb Down" my qualifications. I have heard this before, but I need to know how does one successfully do that. Interviewers ask tons of questions, and its quite difficult to not go into details. HELP!!!!
I was told you have to fix your resume for the job that you want. I was told about "dumbing down" your resume, sad... But good luck !!!
You could short hand your qualifications. In other words give them some but not all till you get your foot in the door.

Perhaps you are applying for jobs beneath your pay scale
In a lot of ways, I feel lost also. I don't think I'm overqualified for anything, I feel I don't have the skill set a lot of employers are looking for today. Good Luck, keep trying,
After working hard to acquire skills throughout the years, it can be downright insulting to be told to "dumb down" a resumé, which is why I prefer to say "tailoring."
A tailor doesn't use the whole bolt of fabric available to him, but he uses pieces of that fabric to make a garment that fits another person perfectly. This is what you're trying to do with your resumé. You want your resumé to be the perfect fit for the jobs you want to apply for.
Your first step will be to research what skills those jobs are looking for. Of the many skills that you have, expand upon any that may be a priority to this job, while placing less emphasis on skills that may not apply. You may even end up with several resumés at the end of this process, which is absolutely ideal! Your resumé should change to suit your job search at each step of the way.
