I had a company fire me because they say I look mean and if looks could kill everyone would be dead, we have to let you go
Hmmm. That company straddling a fine line. Noticing you're African American does that factor in? Hard to prove racism. What would your company do with a 350 pounder that couldn't move? Or someone with a glass eyeball. Or a hearing impaired that tried to speak and grunts instead. It's a weird world I got called in to HR by my passive aggressive coworkers because my 'bracelets clacked my keyboard all day' hanha im a Romanian immigrant and us gypsie girls love our bracelets so.. I'll boss says ahhh Ann just put them on your left arm huh!? I say whaaa boss I have six on the left and 4 on the right... I took them off and put a nice cuff tattoo on my right wrist and now the chicks are complaining that my newest tattoo is white trash!! Don't waste your time babe go find something that appreciates your skill your talent and your balls!
I agree but it didn't use to be so stereotypical either. This is the sign of the times.

Unfortunately most states are considered at-will which means you can be terminated for any reason anytime. If you're not approachable or friendly, your perceived facial expression implies that you're mean and uninviting. All you can do is move on and start over else, but take this as experience/reminder.
