I have worked for dollar general before and I have applied again. Is it OK for me to call and get the status of my application or should I just give them time? Even though I have worked there before, it's been a while.

It might serve you better to run into the store you applied to and speak to the manager, sometimes a face to face is easier than you'd realize.

There is nothing wrong with attempting to regain employment through a previous employer, especially if you left on good terms. As far as checking up on your application, that would depend upon weather or not to contact them in regards to your application or not, although some employers may except the fact that you checked up on your application status as a positive thing even when they have stated not to, due to the fact that it shows you are determined to show your interest in gaining employment within their business/company.
