Going insane!!
So in a nut shell...I graduated 39 years ago, I walked with my class got my diploma. Entered the work force from high school, been in the auto claims industry 30 years. I have been applying to almost every insurance company in the Sacramento area and literally nothing!! With 30 years of experience. Come to find out that the high school I graduated from is saying I never graduated because I was short 2.5 credits! This issue has never come up in 39 years all of the sudden this year it has! I Have received a copy of my transcript. I have contacted adult education schools and colleges and no one can tell me what I need to do. Everyone says I don't need to take the GED test for 2.5 credits but no one will tell me what I need to do.....I'm banging my head against the wall. My employer had to let me go but said they will hold the position for me while I figure this out. Any advise will be greatly appreciated!!
Hi Kathy Martinez - don't worry. It's going to be alright. It's certainly weird that you received a diploma and walked the stage with your peers, and never had a problem with your high school diploma until now.
However, you aren't the only adult who has wanted to complete a high school degree later on. And because of that, there are luckily a couple options for you.
You can contact a local community college, and see what they have to say. Usually you could just take a class that covers the missing credits to be awarded your certificate.
Additionally, I did some research, and THIS LINK will bring you to the website of a school nearby you (Ceres, CA) the offers these programs. You can transfer your credits from your high school, and complete them there.
Be sure to sign up for adult high school completion, and not adult high school equivalency, as that is basically a GED.
If you have any other questions, I found this article and it was very helpful.
