FIRED BECAUSE IM BLACK
Im a master barber with 21 years experience i moved to Ga from DC to get away find a nice quiet shop and prepare to retire. Thought i found it at Als European 11770 haynes bridge Alpharetta ga to my surprise the owner wasnt European but muslim so called so i thought he would at least be fair. After 4 months and starting to feel at home he hired a former employee back thats russian then hired a Caucasian woman. I could feel something wasnt right however didnt want to be prejudice however a month ago out of the blue and i felt like it was a set up the Caucasian woman started an unjustified argument with me in front of customers i handled it as professional as possible and ended up walking away because i knew it wasnt warranted. I asked him to speak to het about it before i left. And went home without thinking about it. The next day at the end of business i was paid and told to pack my things cause i wouldn't be needed anymore. To my shock i asked was he serious and why and the only reason he gave was i argued with her when i asked him to be fair and bring is together to resolve it he said he had already made his decision walked away and went into the bathroom.
Your boss may never have said, "you're fired because you're black," but the manner in which he let you go certainly speaks to a lack of empathy and understanding that may be down to your race. I think you were fair to try and give the place a chance and give people there the benefit of the doubt, and it seems unfair that the grace you granted them was met with combativeness and apathy. You're a master barber with a long and successful career and I'm sure you can get a job at a place where people of different backgrounds can coexist. Good luck, hope things turn around from here.
