Let me give you an update.

I would like to thank everyone here for lending their support and encouraging words. I am better today because of it, and indebted to relate the specifics to how it appears to have played itself out. I recently voiced my dismay with companies claiming Equal Opportunity Employer but disqualifying some applicants from a chance at employment due to infractions found on a background check. And while it is at their discretion to hire whosoever is deemed a better candidate for a job opening. Some might, like myself, feel discriminated upon like the deck may be stacked against them. I have felt this way at times myself. But I remember something my grandmother always used to say, "if you make your bed hard you will have to lie in it." Words of wisdom, but why is it that I realized it way too late? After being turned down and overlooked, and several false starts I eventually had to "man up ", and recalled a gem my uncle sat me down and tried to talk some sense into me. He told me, "whatever you do in life you'll have to be man enough to face the consequences of your actions." Now, isn't that what I'm trying to do after I made a mess out of everything? Made me think of Laurel and Hardy, I digress. But life is not a slapstick. I remember something I read in treatment you reach your bottom when you stop digging. I quit digging a little while ago, but nobody seems to notice that but me. So again, after being turned away from several job pursuits and the outlook not looking too promising, I conceived an idea. I'd call them out on their hypocrisy and bring some attention to their bigotry. I implored this media for suggestions. I'm amazed at how quickly things can take a turn. Or just maybe I got through to someone? This morning I get a call from the HR at Amazon. I am informed how a person with my circumstance is employed at Amazon. Seven years. I'm informed I'll be eligible coming this October. Oh, well it's always something. At least I have that to look forward to. In the meantime, something else came through for me. Tomorrow I'm going to an interview,a physical, and a drug screen. This time it's in the bag.
