Worst company to work for

September 26 was my 2 year anniversary I had requested off 2 weeks previously cause I was supposed to go to Vegas with my wife for the wee also her bday was on the 27th and mines is the 29th. She took that week off work. I tried to discuss why he didn't give me the day off but he kept telling me that he needed me that day because the was supposedly getting an audit. I'm pissed cause that weekend he asked me to work for him because he couldn't find a babysitter for his kid. I was like fucks no... So then the next week he tried to be funny and make me work 35 hours and close every night . My problem is this I collect disability due to 6 hip surgeries I had last year n this year and he he ain't trying to hear me out about him playing this lil childish game with the hours. I need to find another job asap cause clearly they have no respect for me or my well being...I requested to change departments from my managers but they keep refusing to moving me... Now I'm looking at my check and I notice I'm paying union dues when I was never told anything about thrown in no union. Like WTF.... What should I do... Workin in the Deli at Stop n Shop is Very Very Stressful... So can someone help me out what should I do...

If you are paying union due take your grievances to your union rep and file vs grievance against this department. As for scheduleing and time off you work in the food service industry. Hours are set to the corporate standards and business needs. I can tell you though most grocery store delis are run as and after thought to the store it self and not as its own entity as it is a different animal from the store itself. Due to the corporate nature of grocery stores they use the department store model to run the operation. This is the problem you can not run a food establishment that way. As all the priority goes to the in store on floor departments. I.e. labor $ man hrs proper staffing. This situation is currently provlent in the industry at large today as most grocery chains are trying to be a 1 stop for all customers needs. Unfortunately it is more and more the norm then the exception

If you’re STRESSED & can find another job...THEN DO SO!! Also, if you’re paying union dues now, take advantage of that!! Talk to your union rep!! DON’T EXPECT YOUR BOSS/JOB to understand NOTHING!!

Then if you're "paying union dues" , find out what union this is & get a hold of your union rep. They can/supposed to take care of your problem. If they can't produce a union then call the labor board. Hope this help some. Good luck.
