"Stinkin Thinkin"

Ever heard the phrase “fake it till you make it”? Well my chronic negative thinking is crippling my personal and work relationships. I’m going to end up the loneliest 27 year old in the world if I keep up this stinkin thinkin. How can I change to a more positive way of thinking?

Murray, any of us can find ourselves in the spiral of negativity, especially if you feel that life is unfair due to circumstances that are beyond our control. The Best Advise I can give you is to LET GO, and start each day as a new opportunity to find something GOOD. Practice smiling. First, how is your diet, eat a low carb, high protein diet, that is filled with lots of nuts and berries. Nuts and berries are high in magnesium, which increases the serotonin levels in your body. This helps to stabilize our mood. Second, go for a walk/jog in the morning. Exercise increases the natural endorphins in our body. Have you heard the term, “runner’s high?” Third, do something nice for someone else or volunteer at a local charity. Helping others is a great way to feel better about oneself. Remember that while change can be hard, you are the one in control of how you act and feel.

The stress that comes from extended joblessness can lead to anxiety and depression. Reach out and ask someone close in your life for help if you can see the signs of a downward spiral into negativity and mediocrity. Stay on top of your emotional disposition and thoughts.

STOP, THINK, RESPOND. You are probably already pre-programmed to auto respond in a negative manner. Pause or take time to think before you respond. Choose a more positive action even if you don't fully agree with it wholeheartedly. It takes time.

Keep things simple. focus on the small positive stuff like Did you wake up today? Do you have a roof over your head, food to eat? Reflect on more gratitude thoughts and things are going to be okay.
