I just graduated from high school where I was dual enrolled in an Automotive Technician class. I have 3 ASE student certifications and can’t get any entry level Automotive Technician or a Lube Technician positions. I’ve applied at the local car wash, the quick oil change places like 5 minute, Good Year and Bridgestone . I have also applied at just about every dealership from Hyundai to Mercedes. What good is it to take vocational training in high and then when you graduate, you can’t get a job? I have had 3 interviews and all of the told me that they would be calling me with a time to come for a second interview. I haven’t heard one word from any of them. This is depressing. I should have went the college route at least I would have had 4 more years before getting to this point.

Try calling them back, and ask when they want you to come back in.
Also think outside of the box. Lots of companies employ mechanics but are not repair shops or oil change places. Some examples are landscaping companies, construction companies, really any company that uses a good amount of vehicles and or equipment there is a good chance they have there own mechanics. Its also possible being as your young and not as much experience they would train you/apprentice along with existing mechanics to turn you into a profitable asset.
Did you call them back? After a day or a couple days maybe a week you should call and just ask for an update or ask if they have amade a decision. After any interview anywhere it is a good idea to send a thank you email or txt or something just thanking them for there time and sort of letting them know you look forward to hearing back.
Hey Terryl Joseph , finding work right out of school is always a difficult, time-consuming process. That's the case even with college degrees! Keep in mind that you do have a desirable skillset that employers find valuable. Keep at it, and good luck!
Hi Terryl, that sounds frustrating to say the least. Some of these jobs may want to see a bit more experience which is why they may not be calling you back. How long ago did they say they would be calling you back, sometimes it takes time. I hope you can find a job asap!! don't give up, maybe even revisit or call the places you first interviewed at and inquire why they never called you back.

Try Operating Engineers they have a paid apprenticeship program , Cummins has a TAP program , where you get paid, trained , tools and a degree , City bus companies are always looking for lube techs , Fed Ex, Penske ,don’t narrow your vision to only light automotive, United Rentals needs generator lube techs along with other rental companies
