Employment Personality Test
Those standardized test are my down fall. I’m a hard worker, just not as fast as others. I like to work on my own and I can work with a team. I’ve had leadership roles, but I am not always the first person to speak up or stand up. I have a lot to offer to a company, but those test seem to be my downfall. I’m not one to toot my own horn or exaggerate my capabilities. Any advice on how you take those test? I answer the questions honestly, but should I start lying?

I find my clients don't like the Assessment tests on Indeed. I don't feel they are reliable and can cause biased results to the hiring managers. My clients pass up those tests and jobs also because they don't have a computer or the time. They have asked me to take it for them but I refuse because it wouldn't be fair to the employer and cause potentially more issues and headache for me. So, I forward the assessment emails to my clients and politely ask them to take them but offer to let them use my computer.

Hi Gloria Flowers - those tests are not super reliable, and they test for things that aren't always repeatable results.
Definitely don't lie, but feel free to answer in a way that is aligned closer to what answer they are looking for, as long as you can back up the answer.
You could also try searching for a job with a company that doesn't have personality testing for employees. I've actually never encountered an employer that had one.. Have you tried using the job search tool here on Jobcase? It’s simple and you can search anytime for jobs located right near your home. Just follow these steps:
1. Click on Jobs & Companies at the top of the page, or head over [here] (http://www.jobcase.com/jobs/search)
2. Enter a job into the search field where it says Job Title, Keywords, or Company.
3. Add in your location by filling in your City and State OR zip code. Then click the magnifying glass to search.
4. Once the list is up, click on “View Job" of any you are interested in and then apply to any you feel are a great fit.
Wishing you the best of luck with your job search!
Hi Gloria Flowers , I'm in agreement with Lucinda Kerrigan in respect that you don't stand alone struggling through pre-employment tests. What type of test are you seeing (Personality, Aptitude, Skills, other)?
Personality tests are the most common because they're designed to measure traits that are associated with successful performance of a certain role.
The questions are repetitive but structured or constructed differently to ensure the respondents workplace behavior consistency. I read somewhere a while back that good strategy it to answer each question on the polar opposite extremes within each answer (typically multiple choice)
For example: 1- Agree 2- Somewhat Agree 3- Disagree 4- Strongly Disagree
I would answer either (1) agree or (4) Strongly Disagree depending on the question. Never answers (2) or (3). I'm not sure how scientific this strategy is but it's worked wonders for me so far. Might be worth giving it a try. :-)
