Consider yourself lucky to be working at all. Look for a higher paying job in the meantime. That's my opinion after 8 months as an unemployed Art Director... i wish I'd taken a job at Walmart 6 months ago. Feel me?

I have two options if it were me. 1st if you are unemployed ( collecting unemployment ) I would go back and say I hv really thought this through and if we could meet in the middle of what I was asking. I would like to begin a career their. If they say no. Tell them regretfully you will be not taking the position. Thank them snd keep searching. 2nd if no employment or income coming in Take and definitely keep looking.

I recently accepted a job well below my salary exceptations. I feel if you prove yourself with experience and knowledge that time will prevail how valuable you are. If you like the new position don't be hasty about leaving. Communication is the key. Trust me. Good luck.

This is a tough situation Julian because you needed to straighten out the salary piece before accepting the job. You could have negotiated the salary on the job offer call. I suggest you research the salary averages for that particular position just to make sure you’re getting paid a fair rate.

I'm in the same predicament, except I told them it was not enough and only accepted because they promised after 60 days I'd get a raise. It's been almost 5 months and not even the mention of a raise. I have a part time position still open to me and I'm considering giving my two week notice.

The simple answer is NO!

I did the same thing and regretted it the entire time I was there. I was never able to get back the salary I needed.

Have you started yet? Did you mention it was below what you were asking? Is there a middle where you would both be happy? Be honest and open with Employer you will be doing you both a favor. You can always withdraw if you have not started yet. Never settle or you will regret eventually especially if you already regret.

Depends if you already had a job and left for this position. If you were unemployed prior to taking the position I would keep that job and continue looking for another job. Even tell management that the salary isn't what you were expecting and that you are considering other alternative job offers in search of a salary that is more along the lines of what you were expecting to get paid. Sometimes that alone can persuade them to give you a raise closer to what you wanted. But that can also backfired and cause them to let you go since they know you are looking for other positions and won't be a permanent employee that will be around a while. Either way, I'd say keep the job but keep job hunting until you find something better.
