What should a thank you/follow up email say??!
I have had 4 interviews these past few weeks and I always make sure to send a quick thank you email, but I think maybe I am missing something because I have not heard back once.
What should I be writing in my follow up email after the interview is over? Anyone have any ideas? Or if you don’t email, does anyone call anymore? Thanks!

I always asked for a business card and immediately went home and wrote professional thank you notes. I would thank them for their time in the interview and tell them how excited you were about the company and how are you are looking forward to working with them very soon. sign it and include your phone number

Try sending the thank you's Mon-Thurs. Friday, forget it, it will sit there ALL weekend and probably be buried for Monday, unless they happen to check it which might not happen as many people leave early on Friday or are wrapping up the week. After you spend ALL that time prepping for the interview and then it happens anyone would be CRAZY not to followup! Always make sure to say something personal that you spoke about in the interview. It could be anything for example, I really loved chatting about your dog Frisky and hope I get to meet him when you bring him into the office. Something that reminds you that your conversation versus the others was special and significant. This will trigger something in their brains and they will remember you because you made that prior connection. Also discuss why you wanted the job in the first place and be sure to thank them for their time. I very rarely have called to thank someone who has interviewed me, but if they gave you a business card with a direct line you certainly could give it a go if the email is ending up in the spam folder.

Hi Amanda, Good Thank You notes are concise, timely, reiterate your interest in the job, and include a reference to something you discussed with the interviewer while you were having a conversation. Ideally, you will also be able to include some information that solves a problem for the company/manager. For example, one of the best Thank You notes I have received included a list of local get-togethers where I might be able to find candidates with a very, very rare skillset. (Since I'm a recruiter, I'm always on the hunt for unique networking opportunities.)
My candidate gave me a list of ideas I could use to make my job EASIER.... how great was THAT!! I was able to use this information to advocate for this person when I spoke with my boss. (And we hired her & she is terrific... and her name is Julie Jakubiec who works with me here at Jobcase...) So using this advice DOES work!!
Try to keep your TY note to one page, be specific, and make sure you include your contact info. Good luck! Marijoy
