Trying Not to Get Discouraged
I mainly work from home, as I am the primary caretaker for my elderly mother. Things have never been easy, but they were always doable. A few months ago, I decided to leave my job of over 2 years due to constantly being belittled and taken advantage of. 6 months of being vaguely threatened to be fired was more than enough. I had another job lined up, but unfortunately they lost their contract several months later. I went back to Customer Service and started a new job last month, i thought my prayers were answered. However, the company appears to have severely misrepresented the amount of hours I would get, as I have yet to get more than 1/3 of what I was led to believe. It's very frustrating, I feel like I am drowning.

Strong women like you motivate me and all of us.thank you for all you do for you parents. I dont know how you all great women do that. I learn something everyday from your strength. Stay the way you are and never give up. Because somewhere somehow we gain from your strength. Thank you

Rosalind,
I am so sorry for what you have endured, however you endured this hostile and toxic workplace, un-needlessly. If ANYONE ever humiliates or belittles you in the workplace, this is considered “ Violence in the Workplace, 29 CRF. I fully understand where you are because I've been there and currently there now. I have been in unemployed now for over a year. Hi Rosalind. I am sorry to hear you are facing a hard time to get back to the job force, do not get discouraged, I have been unemployed since last April 2017. have been applying for about 200 + positions, some interviews but none hired me. Some other companies ask a lot of skills and experience and the pay is very low and no benefits, and on the top you have to be bilingual. Do not give up there is out there a perfect job for you.

Gosh, I feel your pain...is it just me or is the employment market just getting too mean:)? Hmmm, you work in customer service on-line....Okay, if something changes for you come work for the National Park Service or the Forest Service, they usually have government housing at the parks. Please try USAJobs.Gov. Save your resume there, upload all awards and references .... Please give a hug for your "Mom" and then eat lots of ice cream...may not solve the employment problem, but you'll feel a little better:) Visitor Center Supervisor MT. Whitney Zone, CA. Kevin Kelly

Hi Rosalind. I am sorry to hear you are facing all these difficulties in your life right now. Check out these [work from home jobs] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/36571252-e6b3-53b0-91a0-5ba8fbe865f7). Don't give up and stay strong!!
I dont know if this is a vent or if you want advice.
Presuming the latter, its time to polish up your resume. Dont quit what you have until you get something better. You will have some questions about why you are leaving your present job. You have already answered the question in your post. "I am leaving my current job because the job I applied for was misrepresented". Try not to "diss" anyone, just tell it like it is with your head up high and a traight look in your face.
An alternate would be "I was led to believe during the interview process that I would be allocated significantly more hours than were possible once the job actually started"
Beware of the "work from home" scams out there. Some are real but a lot are just plain scams.
