How I started volunteering at #TheAmericanRedCross
I have wanted to be a part of the American Red Cross since I was a child. My grandmother passed away two years before I was born. I grew up looking at angelic-like pictures, listening to stories from my grandfather, and reading the journals she kept as a district nurse in New York. My grandmother wrote of her frustration with politicians whom did not see the suffering and impoverished families she seen daily. My grandmother rallied with other American Red Cross Nurses to raise money from political parties by speaking on the atrocities that were not being recognized. I became a member of the American Red Cross because I believe in the mission. I am passionate about my civic duty to make the voiceless be heard.
