Lost career. Found new career field?

I loved my assistant manager position at last job. I was good. Too good. My supervisor couldn't take it after I lowered bad debt from 55000. To 13000. Got all owners out of Late and current. She was so jealous and yes I was treated like an oppressed punching bag. With my final paycheck she sent an extra 150. And apology letter. Was unemployed 1 day. Now I work out of my fielf for a carpenter. Making ready houses just built. Clean them, detail, paint, seal, caulk add knobs. Use all kinds of tools. Instead of all business attire I wear shorts tank no make hair pulled up as I'm covered in sweat, paint, mud putty and dirt. No one talks. We work alone. No one to answer too just go in , work butt off and leave whenever you've made the time you need. I'm good at this. I have naturally ability to paint, carpentry it seems. Ha. Who knew. Going to stay a bit and turn flab into muscle. Yes exhausting but feels great.

Serendipity is defined as something you discover when searching for something else; so it is laudably serendipitous that you fell into what sounds like a better line of work... Congratulations!

My best job ever was working for Blockbuster Video for 5½ years... most people think that the computers had all the movie info, but no...it was up to us lowly wage slaves; me, I am a walking encyclopaedia Britannica of movie trivia. Blockbuster Video had to make up an excuse to fire me!

Because I knew my movies so well, customers asked for me by name at all 4 Blockbuster locations I worked at...y'gotta figure that, if one employee can make 19 separate connections between Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and James Bond, FROM MEMORY, this is someone you want movie information from.

They couldn't fire me for cash shortages...because I've a cash handling record of 13+ years without a shortage!

They couldn't get me for poor customer service...not with 16 customer-generated recommendations in 5½ years.

They couldn't even dispute the above as "He said/We said", because I had printed documentation for everything!

So what happened?

I was promoted to Assistant Manager in July, 2000; the physical requirements stated the A.M. must be able to WALK the bank deposit to the bank, but the regional manager insisted the A.M. be able to DRIVE the bank deposit to the bank; Headquarters rules override Regional Manager's rules, right? WRONG! We got around that requirement for two years (because of my epilepsy, I don't drive) by having the other managers come in and take the bank deposit to the bank while I set up the store for the day's business...this is what the ADA refers to as "reasonable accommodation".

Like I said, it worked BEAUTIFULLY for 2 years...then an area manager was hired who went not by HQ's rules, but by Regional Manager's rules and gave me a choice: Demotion or Termination...of course, I took demotion, but went to my lawyer, who said I was being discriminated against & served them papers to that effect. 4 days after they received the paperwork was when they made the first complaint of what they eventually fired me for: Excessive Body Odor.

Yeah, the complaint was that both coworkers and customers were complaining that they could smell me from 20 FEET AWAY, despite my nightly hygiene habit of showering every morning & again at night... I cannot conceive of how long I'd have to go WITHOUT showering in order to be detectable from 20 feet away; I just know that I can't stand myself at 10 hours without a shower!
