I worked at dennys for a while, I absolutely loved it and my job loved me alone with the customers. I stayed in the top 3 whennit came to sales and add ons, I made good money and I tipped my busses 10-20 every time . . Never had a problem with any of the employees because I loved working at dennys I love the people the atmosphere .. one night it was very busy and I had a couple who were already a bit irritated about the wait, i had to take food out to 3 tables so my co worker Shannon, took it upon himself to introduce himself and get their drinks. I am all for team work so I didn't mind at all. I'm fast so I would've gotten to them but he seen they were already annoyed so in my opinion he did a good thing.. But I should've just given him the table smh. So he comes and informs me that they are vegetarians and the young gothic couple wanted veggie patties .. he told them we had them but we did not so I had to go inform them that we didn't have the product. My EXACT words.. " Hi guys, my names is Lindsey and I am your server, so sorry to keep you waiting it's such a busy night but I am glad you have gotten your drinks, unfortunately the server that was helping me out informed me you order veggie patties but I am so sorry to tell you we actually ran out. Is there anything else I can get you?" They completely blew up on me .. " is this a f****** joke.. we came for veggie patties and can't even get what we asked for." Now me? I try to diffuse every situation before it gets out of hand and I have a great personality .. so I TRIED to crack a joke .. thinking maybe they would come out of being irritated at me for something I didn't do... I said " I'm so sorry for the inconvience.. I'm not too sure if Shannon knew we had veggie patties or not but the cook just told me. We do have other good items on the menu and we have tons of pancakes." NOPE that was the wrong thing.. they were so offended I offered them pancakes at dennys. She yelled at me .. And said " we are f****** vegetarians we don't eat d*** pancakes this is bull****." I said I completely understand and I am sorry I will give you guys a few more minutes to look over the menu, please if you need anything Shannon will be right back with you guys and I'll come check on you in a few again I'm sorry for the inconvience." I THOUGHT it would've stopped there. I started putting plates on my serving tray, I turn around and the lady is UP, where I am .. YELLING AT ME .. telling me i am a horrible person, I shouldn't be working at dennys, she doesn't want my kind of service.. she put her finger in my face and said " little girl I don't know who you think you are but I don't want your service." I politely said " Alright mame, if that's what you wish I'm sorry we didn't have veggie patties, and I am not alittle girl. But Shannon will kindly help you from here on out." All of a sudden she's REALLY screaming now.. And I politely tell her that I have the right to refuse service so if she continues to scream I would have to ask her to leave. Mind you ALL of my other tables are starring at her and this is infront of the whole store. There was also no manager during the busiest hour but again.. I just adjust to my situation and my surroundings and I never made mistakes so it didn't bother me. I THOUGHT all was good I called the MANAGER who was supposed to be there and let them know the situation and what happened detail to detail. I get a call from work the next day saymy they need to talk a WEEK before Xmas, the MANAGER said the customer called complained that I was overly aggressive with her, I TRIED to harm her, and I also screamed at her NONE of which happened.. I told my side of the story and the store manager said she'll check the tapes .. well a couple hours later she said that HR emailed her and said that I would be rehirable but I needed to be let go and that customer was coming back in to check later... WHAT KIND OF STUFF?!?!?! I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT I've NEVER had issues like that NEVER. And it's crazy because I've been trying to work at a dennys since. I miss it there and I'm a single mom so it was the only place that I loved working at and was ok with being away from my son for so long. Smh just sad.
