Manager get one free meal per shift. Servers often get 50% off their meal.

Managers get one free meal per shift. Servers always get 50% off either 30 minutes before there shift starts or ends. Sometimes some places will let you have that discount during your break.

No, you don't. You get a shift meal as an manager, you just order something of the menu. You get a shift meal prepared just for you as a line employee (usually family style meal) or you can order of the menu with a discount. But you don't just eat what you want, whenever you want. There's usually time frame that you have to eat in and sometimes a restaurant forbits you form ordering particular, hight end foods: lobster or steak for example, as they're known for hight cost.
I worked fast food for years and depending on the restaurant they will allow a lunch break that you don't have to pay for. However, if you eat any other food other than your lunch break this is considered as stealing and you can and probably will be fired for stealing.
