There are many reasons you might not hear from an employer after an interview. Sometimes they've moved on to other candidates, sometimes internal departments put up roadblocks to hiring and that stalls the process, or sometimes they're trying to decide between you and one or two other candidates. In the meantime, you're left wondering. It's way more common than it should be.

The best way to deal with a situation like this is to call them up and inquire over the phone. Make sure to call during business hours, when you know they'll be around. Maintain a friendly and calm demeanor and try not to put too much pressure on them. Something like, "Hi X, my name is Latoya Selby and I interviewed with you guys a few weeks ago. I'm just calling to check up on my candidacy in regards to the X position" should do nicely.

If they give you a straight answer yes or no, you can take the necessary next steps. If they stonewall, ghost, or deflect then take that as your cue to keep going with your search. Who knows, they might call you back with an offer sometime down the road, but don't wait for them to do so. Hedge your bets by applying to other opportunities and keeping the job search rolling while they make a decision.

Hope this helps!

Yes considering the position and background checks - Local, County, State information. But there is noting wrong with you checking with them it will allow them to know you are still interested.
