What should I know before applying to a Cashier job?

Know how to count back change.

Well, I was a cashier for 10+ years. Customers are definitely not the same. I retired being a cashier because I got attacked by a customer working overnight. Just make sure the company is what they say, when it comes to being for employees. The saying, "customers are always right", is not true. If the customer thought it was right to attack me, then there is something wrong with that.

People are people they have good days and bad days just like you. You be professional and kind even on their bad days

Also make sure you like people in general and you have integrity

Before applying to a Cashier job, make sure you have excellent customer service skills, good math abilities, and the ability to operate a cash register efficiently. Be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and handle cash transactions accurately. You can search for Cashier positions on online job platforms like Jobcase, as well as other job search providers such as Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor. Good luck with your job search!
There are lots of things to know, but some you can’t know until you experience it first hand. 1. ) Being a cashier, especially in a busy setting can be the worst job in the world or your attitude can make it the best. Tell yourself every day as you go in that you will not be affected by the 1 to 3 people that will come through your line spreading their version of negativity to your world. Make a game of it instead. Continue to smile, mumble to yourself “there’s one” you anticipated that right?? No surprises. Now be ready for the next. 2.) take your time when dealing with the payment. Do not allow yourself to be distracted. If the customer tries to add an item, want change, etc. kindly ask them to wait till you are ready and caught up. If you are worried in the slightest or if something doesn’t fit right, immediately call your manager or lead etc. let them take it from there. SMILE and mean it! Get to know your regulars. You might be the only person that day who spoke kindly or recognized them. They matter never treat them like a number, 3.) keep your belt, counter, floor and personal area clean at all times . Clean as you go. Remember this…”You never get a second chance to make a first impression” 4.) There are 2 things ( or skils ) in customer service that cannot be taught. Those 2 items are people skills and common sense. You are either born with them or you’re not. You got this!
