Lessons learned - Resume Writing Tips
As I settle into my new Regional HR Role, I have looked at why such an extraordinary number of entry level candidates have been rejected. I have also been assisting different managers vetting folks by phone. Recruiting for warehouse/light industrial, I know all the players and who uses temp agencies. When I see a "job jumper", my first question is - What agency were you working through? It seems obvious now, but hiring managers don't know the staffing industry and see 5-6 jobs in the last 2-3 years and automatically reject the candidate as being "unemployable". The vision the hiring manager has is that either you could not learn to do the job, had absenteeism issues, or you jump ship the minute you get distracted by something else.
On the resume, List the agency (agencies) you have worked for, and underneath list the dates of each assignment. You can place bullet points of skills/accomplishments beneath that list of "recalls". This will change the perception of the hiring manager to see that you "temped" and did such a good job for their client, you were recalled.
It shows your best in a much better light. Don't rely on the person reading your resume to connect all the dots.
