Do you expect to retire?
Retirement is not a viable option for many of us. We have built up a certain way of living and in order to maintain that way we have to continue working. It is vital to contribute something by working. I suppose that defines work - compensation for contribution.

I guess you could look at it that way, but it's important to try and find some intrinsic value in what you do. If you're only in it for the money, you'll end up hating every moment of work. That's just my own opinion though...
