NOT SURE WHAT TO THINK ! ! ! ! !

Recently I recieved an email about a position with Indeed, as a "Staffing Coordinator" a home based position. Since I am already working nights at Amazon, I thought this would be great. They said they would send me a lap top and all the software I would need for the job. They sent me a job description & Q&A sheet with answers to questions I might have. Then they sent me an application & a 35 question job interview form. After that they sent me an employment agreement & asked me to open up an account with this credit union for direct deposit. Thats when I started tripping. The employment agreement had an official looking stamp on it & signed by Paul Foryster, who is the founder of Indeed, but it doesn't feel right. They offered to pay me $700 for the 1st 3wks then $1250 a week after that. They "recruiter" is Stephanie Burrell but has a gmail address. If she was really from Indeed, she would have an Indeed.com address right? Also the last letter I recieved, she has mispelled something. But I know I have made that mistake before myself. None of these emails have a # for me to call, which is odd too. Also the offer came from CareerBuilder, for an Indeed job? Why wouldn't they contact me themselves? how should I handle this?

Kristi, of course go no further. However, I would contact the legal department at Indeed to report this, as they need to know, and they have the resources to go after these people. You were able to dodge a major bullet by stopping, but others more desperate may not be so lucky. You might also want to report this to your states Attorney General, as this is major fraud. Good Luck...

I received the same offer from this Donald Hayes and when I read the letters he sent me, immediately I started to doubt it because first of all it has a lot if misspelled words, some words like conectors are missing, the order of the document is not even professional and is repetitive as well, however I had to ask to myself like: ok if I were to believe it, in what part would I lose and then the process to me got suspicious because they supposedly make a background check of you and then, they consider you officially for the job, I mean I don't know if this is the order of things in a legit company or if the background check is done after you sign the contract but when they have your background check they'll have all your info so is kind of a lot of risk. Also, they said that the interview was done by Skype and that's ok but the way they reply the questions in their document and even the questions they make, are telling you they are trying to convince you that they're legit! A legit company wouldn't need to do that, like why would I have to doubt it in the first place, why would they try and convince me, if I haven't even asked them if they are legit?. Then I looked on Google and there's a site where there's this girl saying they asked her for her bank info and so it's a scam! and then now here, several people saying they received it as well. Well thanks God something told me it was suspicious and didn't go for it before ;) Thank you to all of you for your advice!

Its probably a SCAM! Check them out through the BBB ( better business bureau) FIRST before you give or receive ANYTHING!!!!

I have received the same thing, with correspondence with Donald Hayes. I noticed an error here or there as well in emails, but I’ve encountered the same sorts of Errors in emails from a recruiting agency a couple years ago that ended up being legit and I got an amazing temp job from them. They had found an old resume of mine online, as did a contact of Donald Hayes, her name was Mallory, a few months ago. Careerbuilder was the site as well, and Indeed is actually connected to career builder. I asked the Indeed account manager I am connected with through work and he said it may in fact be legitimate. I was also suspicious because of the email account not being an indeed account, although I can think of a few reasons for this. Have you set up a time to receive the equipment such as he laptop? Did they call your references?

It’s a scam unfortunately. I just had to go to my bank today and put a hold on my account because it seemed so legitimate. But there was no phone number provided and my last email “Donald Hayes” senior recruiter was a little bit rude in his email to me when I asked about the account info. I should’ve realized it was a scam right then. Anyways, don’t give any bank info out!! And tell him in an email if he contacts you again you found another job and don’t respond to him again.

We're going through this exact drama as I sit here typing this comment! My husband got the same job offer...down to the dollar amounts!! They even sent him a brand new Lenovo laptop! Everything you said has happened to us. He's gone through 3 weeks of training and they promised to pay him and they haven't! All of a sudden no one will talk to him, answer their phones or emails.

It always raises a red flag when I see a potential employer offer unrealistic pay and ask you immediately for your bank information. It was a good idea you went with your intuition on this one. I hope indeed and other websites who post jobs are constantly looking into scam artists.

If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is.
