Unfortunate situation
I have been looking for gainful employment for over a year. I worked for top/well established local government , in the Northern VA region. Unfortunately, due to work related medical situation, I was told to transferred positions. The position was not the type I could handled day to day,but I was told to take it or I would be terminated. Reluctant, I transferred, and thing went from bad to worst quickly. Management started a paper trail and making things up and I was eventually terminated mid last year. However; to make matters worse, .my supervisor, accused me of stealing a chair that I had purchased to be able to work more effectively as part of ergonomic arrangements. She then told all of my friends and colleagues and even potential Employers that I was a thief and I had stolen chairs. When I contacted HR, they started investigating and started terminating colleagues that I had asked for references. I worked there for over 10years. And now I cannot get any references for work and cannot find decent job to support my family. Former supervisor, can have major effects on your ability to find meaningful work but that's not right and shouldn't be happening in local government. Thanks alot ffx
Oh my gosh Jay L I am so sorry! That job sounds like a nightmare. I can't believe the chair situation. It sounds to me that your employer wanted to find any little reason to have you leave which is unfortunate. Somethings are just beyond our control, like someone's attitude for example. The only thing we can do is be the best person WE can be. So let's help you move forward because you definitely can and will!
