Background Checks/Discriminatory
I made a small mistake (shoplifted under $20).I paid fines & they classified it as a misdemeanor. WARNING: It has ruined my life! It may have been classified as a felony. It shows mistrust & it's making me suicidal because I can't find a job-with the background check & besides being disabled. I HATE money. If we didn't have to work-for MONEY, we wouldn't need MONEY to buy things to survive! JW63 .

If it was classified as a misdemeanor (which it was I'm sure if it was under $20.00....I was a judicial intern and interned with the prosecutors office as well) it is still a crime of moral turpitude. So what you want to avoid is applying for jobs that deal with the exchange of money (stores, financial or credit institutions). If it happened more than 7 to 10 years ago it won't usually be a big deal. Apply for customer service type roles or roles such as data entry. You'll find something. Do not kill yourself! Hang tough. Kids make mistakes and it was not a violent crime. Make sure you have a resume and cover letter explaining how you can be an asset to the employers you apply to. It will happen. It might just take time...just steer away from money handling jobs;)
