Long road
So recently I was let go and on very morally questionable grounds and right before Christmas literally 3 days before I moved into my new place all seemed great until I was asked to come to the office and that's when I got delivered the news. It was heart breaking and terrifying because all I could think was now what. I had just enough money to post for 2 months rent and that was it but I got let go at the worse part of the year. In my field Construction December/Janurary/Feburary are the hardest months so no one was looking to hire not till Spring (when most home buyers start looking). I was screwed. I had to file for unemployment the works. First thing first update my resume did that within hours and thought ok maybe with my wording and my experience I can pick something up easily... wrong. I put out over 500 applications for work everyday from 8 am till 5 and on weekends. I got quite a few phone interviews but that was it. I was beginning to lose hope I was thinking about having to declare bankruptcy and move in with friends. 60 full days of sending resumes over and over to new companies, tweaking my resume each time to tailor to what the company in question was needing (never lieing because that is a sticky web not easy to get out of). Finally my break came through I had an in person interview come through not what I would have wanted, but it was something. I spent the next 2 days studying literally everything about the company as much information as I could. The day of the interview I showed up 10 minutes early and started my interview. Started out rocky because my age I am mid 20's so ageism is definitely a thing not just to older folks but younger as well. If it was up to them the interview would have been over in 15 minutes, but I showed my knowledge of their company, their product, their procedure and I can't stress this enough. If they ask you "do you have any questions" you need to have at least 3 questions qued up. My typical questions are "where do you want to see this company in 5 years/how do you think it got to the point where it is today" "what would your ideal candidate look like" "how do you think your company can get better". After I grilled the company in question their attitude turned 180° they showed interest in me because you show that you are interested. Dont feel like this company holds all the cards because remember they are looking for someone they need help. A day goes by and they extend an offer to me this is now Tuesday expecting me to start on Monday. I look at it and something tells me not to respond immediately. Wednesday comes and just before I sent my acceptance I get an email from a company that says they want an immediate interview. I respond back and set an interview that afternoon. Next day (Thursday) I am doing a second interview. Friday 10AM rolls around the hiring manager calls me tells me if my background check checks out she will extend an offer. This company pays more and have better benefits. Friday at 3 PM I get a phone call from another company that received my resume is interested in me. Now please dont think I am bragging I am simply stating that you cant lose hope when things dont go your way quickly. Go with your gut feeling dont be afraid to keep submitting your resume because like me you might get yourself in a position where you have the upper hand. You can negotiate and have a bidding war. Had I stuck with the first company I would have shot myself in the foot because I would not have made enough money to survive.

It always happens this way. As soon as I start a new position, I get calls, interviews and job offers.
I hate job-hopping, but sometimes that's just how it works out.

God works in strange ways. At one point in time I had more job's than I was old! Recently Target was working her to death. She worked her ass off for them for almost 2 years. Never missed a day of work accept when she had a 1 inch kidney stone surgically removed. She was off for 3 days. One day I got a call from her. She was crying "...dad I got fired from target for using my smartphone." After she calmed down I basically told her the same answer. "You never know. It might have been a blessing in disguise." 4 days later she had 3 new jobs 2 at Bite Squad and I restaurant. Now Target has to raise her credit card limit!!

Christian, That is wonderful. The Lord was arranging everything for you.
He has a plan for me also. Unfortunately I paid the last bill I could today. I now have $9.95 in my checking account. Cannot pay the Electric Bill. Living with a sister in my parent's home since they recently deceased. I never thought at my age I would be where I am. Now my vehicle is fixed, I will not be able to go anywhere because all I have is $9.95. I do a custodial job in my church but that only pays $102/week and the electric bill is $118. Both my sister and I pay different bills. I cannot survive here. Let alone my personal. Recruiters reach out to me and tell me my resume is the best, submit on my behalf and promise me they can prod their clients. I am hearing the same old B------t. Something will happen. I pray to God at night to take my anxiety away so I can sleep, help me in financial hardship and get back to what 'normal' people do. Go to work, cook dinner, dishes, watch tv. I am constantly looking for work. No funds to socialize, let along gas money to visit friends for a beer or two and hang out. Three years I have been at this.
I did volunteer work at a local museum today. I do this to keep up my self-esteem. That felt good today. When I arrive home, whip out the laptop and look for 'real' jobs and apply for the ones which are not a 60 mile one way ride from my home, that pay what I deserve.
Good Night everyone. Tomorrow is a new day and God can change things in an instant.

I was let go Dec 17th from a company who pays their employees to werite a yelp review.

I had to leave my job of 14 years in November due to my position being dissolved from company wide restructuring. It's a terrible feeling to be jobless and trying your hardest and not getting results. It's horrible as I understand having to have money or you are gonna lose it all. Good job to you sticking through it and applying soo many places and finding work. I hope everything works out!! You are a breath of fresh air to me. Don't forget you are not alone. Also don't be afraid to reach out to family for assistance if you need it. Everything will be ok! I am learning that even after landing a job that seems perfect don't settle in right at first. I landed a job that had my skillset in demand, great pay, beautiful location and an amazing office. The downside was on day 2 I witnessed fraud and the worst part is it was condoned by the store upper management. So I had to leave. All my years of experience was in auditing work continuously so I can't go against who I am or my skills. Im hoping my next job will be the one.

Was downsized from my company at Christmas and understand the feelin.

Great post. I have an interview this week and I will use some of what you wrote especially the part about where you said to definitely respond when they ask if you have questions. I never thought of that and I will definitely be doing what you said. Thanks. Glad I read this.
That made me feel better
