A Jackie-of-All-Trades, Telecommuter with a foundation in Administrative Assitance

Hi Folks,

I am on that train that we all dread to be on, and it's not my first stop either. I've been job hunting for a good year now looking for virtual assistant work/telecommuting. My last few years have been in the logistics/trucking industry as Fleet Manager and saw a very good income from doing that, however I cut myself off from doing it at the same capacity that I as due to the sporadic nature of the independent contractor driver; in other words these guys are all usually good people but are always looking for a pot of gold and when they don't find it they tend to blame their dispatcher. On another note, I have years of providing clerical assistance in NYC. Legal, Medical, Non-Profit, Fashion, Education. I've worked in all of these industries. I even have experience working with insurance due to always quoting my husband's truck when his policy is up. I know what goes into it. Bilingual Spanish speaker, small business owner. I feel very capable of anything. So why isn't anyone hiring me?

Hi Grace: So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your job search - especially since you've got so many awesome skills and experience! Have you checked out sites like Upwork.com and Guru.com? They're freelance sites that post different admin/telecommuting projects, which means you can work from home while working on as much as you want. Hope this helps you!
