She left a good job and moved to a new country

Neha Deoliya wrote about her job hunting experience in a new country. Find it on LinkedIn "How I landed a job of my choice in a foreign country"

Last year I left my lucrative job at Amazon and moved to Brisbane, Australia to gain international exposure. Since I did not know a single person in my domain here, job search looked daunting. ...Thankfully, I realised very early on that I needed to change my approach and do things differently. [From the usual impressive CV with cover letter and applying online.] Here are the three things that worked for me in the process.

  1. I started attending local networking events (Connected with a variety of types of people.)
  2. I stopped asking for jobs (Researched a company, determined what she could OFFER, and contacted directly senior personnel, such as directors; got replies from about 80% !)
  3. I never failed to grab an opportunity to learn (Grabbed opportunities to learn more, even accepting internships.) Important points that she learned. --Step out of your comfort zone --Never lose self-confidence --Build patience & control feelings of desperation --Your work experience speaks for itself --Enjoy career breaks--they can be opportunities to think outside of the box
