Waiting Time - Background Check
I was interviewed, signed offering paper, passed drug test and received DOT certification for Fedex Express courier. I've heard so many different stories, what is the usual time before everything is completed and I can expect an answer ?

Darius, it all depends on the H.R. scheduling, they want to make certain that all of the paper work comes back right, The H.R. dept. is only one part of the equation. they have other documents and agency's that they have invited into the final decision process., whether positive or negative the H. R. Dept. has the final say, and you must wait . Let this be a learning curb for you and the many, many other readers out there., Most companies feel that they need to be cautious in their decision making. You appear to be a grown adult, so by now you need to have learned to be patient with life, If this opportunity is meant to be, so be it., if not , just suck it up and move on., you'll find another prospect., Good Luck, Lani

It took my husband 3 months to get the back round investigation done for the federal government. They get in no hurry.

you are just a cog in a giant wheel. Keep moving on.

So many things can be happening behind the scenes. Unfortunately, HR Is only able to tell you what they can. It could be a district manager thats traveling, a sign off that is required, they may still be looking at other candidates...you can't speculate as they can go as slow as they like. If this is specific to the background check as they say, HR should be able to discuss with you. It all depends on the party they use to do background checks and what backlog that company has and or Fed-Ex has themselves. This time of year you would think everything would be high priority. SOOOOOO, don't give up contact them and many other companies. Do you have Amazon hubs in your location? They are hiring like crazy!

Usually a week at the most 7 business days unless there is some sort of a holiday (Veterans day, Thanksgiving)

In essence, when I use to apply, I would give it a whole week after submitting my application. Heck, I'll even ask them if they could stamp it received when and what time then give it a week and then the following week start calling once a week and if nothing twice a week. It works out like that for me and it should for everyone else if you time it right. Of course I would apply also for other companies and allow myself to say first come first serve and the like. Keep trying it works.

It's all in Gods timing trust the process

It is always in God's timing trust the process.

Darius, every Co. has a different hiring policy. As far as a background check it depends on how many addresses or places you have lived. I have a background check every 2 years that is required by NFHS for Coaches.2-3 days is normal for same state residence. There may be reasons that the Co. isn't contacting you. You're probably not the only applicant,or it could be that you're replacing someone in the Co.and they haven't seen the need to bring you in yet.I was directly involved with the hiring process at a Co.I worked for over 30years.from the background check, drug screen to final interview was anywhere from 30 days -60 days. depending on the needs of the Co.
Hello Darius, I don't believe there are timeframes to hear from potential employers, because many employers don't communicate with you for a job anymore. They now expect you to communicate with them if you want employment. It seems that you will have to determine your own timeframe and contact them when you see fit. Now days, I prefer to contact them myself. You seem more in control of your future this way. No one is going to look after you, but you.
