If company is hiring, why am I not getting any response?
I receive roughly 100 emails daily from job-finding sites claiming that companies are hiring. For example, I have seen emails about FedEx hiring for months now. I went through the necessary steps to apply for the job, bit have not heard anything. The same thing has happened for Sam's, Lowe's, Coke, etc. What am I not doing? How do you follow up if the application does not provide contact info?

Hi Jermaine just wanted to give you some information that I have experienced. I worked at Lowe's it took 6 months for me to get an interview. In fact I had received an email saying that they had went with another applicant. those companies that you listed hire seasonal so while they say they are hiring and they are the are just getting ready and they take their time. you might want to apply directly on the companies website and Lowe's I know has their own logon and you can track your application..make sure you always have one that still shows under consideration.apply for everything you can and multiple locations if possible just keep your application active and make sure your resume looks professional. another tip would be your availability...the more you are available the better your chances. hope this helps.

I have been in the same situation as you. I have done the researching to send follow ups and nothing has come of it. I have been sending out email applications for 6 months to no avail. I have even gone to training classes to help rewrite my resume and prep for interviews. My recommendation for you is to network. Ask friends, acquaintances, etc. Send each a personal call or email asking for their advice/help. Give specifics as to what you are looking for so they can respond with more than an "ok, I will keep my ears open" because that will not go anywhere. They may know someone who you can talk to that will be a direct line to a job position. A majority of jobs are filled through employees knowing someone who is looking. The saying "It's who you know" means a lot.
I hope this helps and good luck in your search.

I GET THE SAME THING.IT EVEN SAY'S GOVERNMENT JOB'S I'M GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF

First of all, Jermaine, competition is fierce! Secondly, you have to distinguish yourself. Try enrolling in a continuing education program at your local community college or jobs program. There are resources to help, but you have to get out there and pursue all of them. Be patient, but persistent...don't give up!

Unfortunately the system of the state is getting in everyone's way. As a store manager I get alot of applications for positions at my store. The biggest problem is that one people do not take the assessment test that goes with the application therefore automatically I can't call you. Secondly there are alot of people on unemployment and part of being on unemployment is that you have to apply and track a certain amount of jobs a week to keep your unemployment. So alot of people who have no intention of getting a job anytime soon is flooding the markets with their applications. They either do not return phone calls or just not show up to an interview because their part it done. They applied for a job, tracked it with the state got their weekly benefits and don't care about the rest. So I have to filter through all of this just to find a serious candidate and then have to see if they are even qualified. I had 3 interviews scheduled because I am hiring an assistant manager and none of them showed up. As for you having a preprinted resume and not wanting to fill out an application with the same information, that's kinda the point. Employers want to see if you will take the time to fill that out even though you have your resume. So when people write on an application in the previous employment section "see resume" your basically telling us your too lazy to fill out the paperwork or your quick to find a short cut which is not something an employer is looking for.

Hi, I went through this same thing. ...pick the place you want to work if you applied online go in person ask to speak with the manager dont say why...then if you see him explain you applied online and want the job...key is going in every other day or call and show them your really interested and make your self memorable and you will get an interview, this is what I did.

Hi Jermaine, I get the same response as well, companies are not hiring. I made resumes and went to places all I got was to apply online. I applied for a hotel they emailed me back saying as well they are not hiring or don't meet quiteria. Good luck with job huntting..

Jermaine, there are many dead ends out there. I was out of substantial work for 5 years despite having an Ivy league MBA in my field of expertise. I posted for literally thousands of jobs and got responses from maybe 75 companies. That's less than 1 in 10. Suggestions - leverage linkedin (especially the groups). You will generally find folks there that have some level of hiring/decision making responsibilities - OR - at the very least, can put your resume into the hands of the hiring manager. Also, I began to take note of the companies that consistently posted "open" jobs but never responded to me - and I placed THEM on a do not call list (I have no further interest). In fact, you listed a couple of those organizations in your posting. If you are truly good at what you do, it's their loss! Finally, for me, faith-family-and friends can pull you through the tough times. BE ENCOURAGED BRO'.

Sadly to say but, most of the time you are better off going to a hiring agency. I live in Georgia, and most of the hiring comes from who you know. Meaning you need to know a person of a person to get your foot in the door.
I totally agree with you it is the truth.
