I'm looking to go for a doctorate degree.
I have decided to try for a doctorate at Marshall University, my favorite stomping grounds. I am interested in the doctor of education-curriculum and instruction program. I may have to be interviewed as part of the admissions process. Has anybody ever gone through this process, and what was it like for you? I may be interested in teaching journalism and/or graphic art-website design as another way of fulfilling my dream of combing the two fields. Any ideas?

Like to kown how old you be

I do know about these fields, but I say you should follow what you believe in. Also maybe both. Knowledge is a powerful thing so you learning more won't hurt no one.

I think you should follow your dream & go for the doctorate. Best of luck, & I hope you get a fabulous teaching position.

True indeed. It is always good to further your education just be mindful of what you're getting yourself into. I know a couple of people who went for the doctorate and are now in debt for life. One gentleman has to sleep on a friends sofa because he cant afford his own due to paying on his shcool debt.

Be very careful about taking on debt to obtain a Doctorate. It might be too costly without the guarantee of a professorship. Schools hire adjuncts who aren’t paid enough to survive on and it’s compounded by having to pay down what they owe. Probably a bad ROI.

Hi, Larry. I haven't had any exp in the field you are pursuing. But my take on your ambition is certainly go for it. Combining your interests into a profession sounds fantastic. If you do end up going through the education and start your career, then awesome I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be happy for you. I wish you the best.

Hi Larry,
I had masters and Bachelor's in education course degree. But you know there are persons in your home university who can guide you in doctorate thats what our teachers done doctorate. I know you're are passionate about this just go by preparing the interview and give the answers uniquely on your own.

I only have a Masters degree. However, my advice is to just be yourself and be honest. Answer their questions in a thoughtful manner and see what happens. I wish you the best!

I hope there are people on this website who are advanced degree holders.I would caution on too much education leading to you being more overqualified then you already are.
