I recently worked for Sears as a seasonal employee from the end of October to Christmas eve. They just took me off of the schedule and no one as yet has confirmed I'm no longer employed there. I'm not stupid...been treated pretty crappy by some there.I plan to move on but don't want to jeopardize last pay.Since then I've read horror stories online from people that worked there before. Does anybody have any more input on this? As bad as pay was still need whatever pay I can get?

Probably a seasonal employee and nobody bothered to tell you. We are just cattle

Hey Paula you said they took you off the schedule but still have you in the system even thow you was hired seasonal you should still be able to go and apply for unemployment ether they will give you hours or they will take you out of there system but you was still there long enough to get unemployment until you can find you something else may God be with you. God Bless

I don't know if anyone has heard but Sears is closing 150 Sears and k Mart stores I 2017

Hey I'm sorry that you were mistreated at Sears I used to love shopping at that store I'm sure you will get your last check on payday I'd call and ask if you are still employed there any longer or ask when you go get your check and don't burn any bridges you want to have them for a reference

Gosh, take whatever paycheck u can from Sears and cash it b4 it's no good..they're closing 100 stores..don't put it your account, cash it..I've been there with a bad paycheck..it's a shame, but it happens..

The only thing you can do is go to the HR department and inquire. At that point, they will either officially terminate you or tell you they need someone at some early point. The key is you are seasonal and temporary part time. They still should properly terminate you.

No this is their way of showing that you are a temporary person. You were trying to stay for a long period of time and they didn't agree. Unfortunately to me this happened before I got tired of temporary employment and went put in some application in the assembly line in my hometown. I also tried working at sears at my hometown which was hard to do. I was treated somewhat not unfairly but was rushed and running doing everything. As I said, I got a job but it didn't lasted long. I ended up going into the service and enjoying it for some years. But my discovery is this.....sears act like this some season elsewhere too. My best advice is to get another job or phone the department bosses above to see if you can get that job back.

I also was a seasonal cashier and was no longer on the schedule and told all seasonal employees had to be cut as soon as possible. I personally think it's because I didn't promote the Sears stores credit cards enough but that's my opinion. Good luck on future endeavor Sears and Kmart are in a bad position financially.

Hate it for you and your co-workers but read of listen to the news. Sears is closing many of the flagship stores and KMarts. Also Macy's is going to close a record number of stores. It's all about the changing consumer and the availability of on-line shopping. For me (an experienced retailer) it is also about the declining customer service and dependability of the stores and staff. A good thing can't last forever as these giants can now atest. I wish you well and hope you find a career that suits you.
Jobcase sent me this as a notification. How did it turn out? Sears is supposed to have the Seasonal Employees fill out a form when they leave rating their experience with the store. There is also an official separation form that you are supposed to get to say why you're leaving. Pretty sure seasonal employment is on it for a reason that your not working there anymore. If I'd seen this months ago, I would have strongly suggested that you make sure any paperwork you fill out says that you are eligible for rehire because that's almost like a job reference right there. That paper will be in your file and if a future employer asks if you're eligible for rehire, it's good for whomever is talking to them to be able to say yes.
