Forced to work sick.
So. I'm working yet another job that would rather me work sick as a dog than stay home and get better. I have covered for people, I have stayed late because people have left early and I have also gone in when I didn't need to which made it to where I only had one day off a week. A co-worker of mine came into work with a virus one day and then called in the next. But when it comes to me being sick.. (ex. Nose that's dripping, nausea, and the runs.) God help me I can't miss. We're short staffed but my manager would rather me go into work and get customers and employees sick as well. By the way I work at Subway so I'm around and handling good non-stop. I asked about a doctors mask to cover my nose and mouth to prevent anything from happening but they said that I cannot do that. So what am I supposed to do? Continue to go in?
Sounds like Walmart .
They have no respect for themselves and definitely didn' t have any for you. I know you don't want to get sick and don't want lose your job, but tell them you can' t make it the work that day or you got to leave early
I experienced this in December, I work in the medical field at a nursing home, I went to work sick because of under staffing, my boss said to me to go home because I was sick, only to tell me this 10min left to go in my shift, the next day I was scheduled off, then the next morning my boss called me to come in after they sent me home the previous day, I couldn't believe it, it's like they didn't care, just wanted a warm body, is how I felt.
I would say it's time to look for something different!! That is bad for you, your environment, and the customers! They shouldn't be doing this at all. I hope they're prepared to get hit with a health violation when bunches of people get sick from going there.
Start a new job search secretly, apparently your shift manager has some favoritism towards others and they'll condition to take advantage of you . This is a great learning tool and will give you nowledge for future insight, you can well if you think back why every one else was late, sick, flat tire,dog or cat died use it as a profiling tool.. If you go over there head your going to get burned, especially in your situation sometimes were set to fail remember evil hides behind kindness. From a supervisors point of view.
