Does or is there a way to get a commercial driver's license with bad credit don't have the money to pay a p front anyone got any suggestions

If you don't have a criminal or a bad driving record you can apply for a school bus driver. They will train you to drive a bus and help get your CDL license. However, it's not a semi-truck driving license... You can drive part-time, (before and after school) or full time, (charters and field trips) and do truck driving training on your down time. My daughter did this while she was in college...

You can also get financial aid from a tractor trailer school. Or you can join a Transportation unit in the National Guard and get your license free of charge through the Guard. Or I don't know if they still do this but The Sysco company has a drivers training program and will help you prepare to take the road test to obtain a cdl. And like someone else said Swift& C.R. England will train you to drive but you have to drive for them for at least one year. If you decide to leave sooner you'd have to pay them the difference. There are plenty of ways to obtain your cdl. Good luck in your choice.

Also William, sometimes their are other programs out there that will help you as well to obtain your CDL license. I think the cost of tuition where I went to school was about $5200 give or take. Check with your local state career centers and see if they have anything to offer, (unemployment office). Do some research on who you want to work for. I ended up with SuperService out of Somerset, Ky, and I think I'm gonna like it here. As of matter of fact I am currently in orientation and then Training out on the road for about 4 weeks. Many drivers told me to stay away from certain companies, and it seems to always be the same companies no matter the driver I'm talking to. The list has been consistent with; J B Hunt, Swift, Snieder, Werner, Western Express, and Mr. P. to companies to stay clear of. Good luck in finding your way.

Well if you got fired and can get unemployment you can go to unemployment and they will pay for you to go to school. That's what happened to me and I went for free. They paid $3,200 for me to get my Class B license. They even offered me to go for my Class A which was $6,000. I was not comfortable driving the bigger trucks so I went for the Class B. I can tell you now I wish I would have went for the Class A. If you go that route go for the Class A there are so many more jobs for Class A. You can pay cash if your able to get your hands on that also. You can pay up front or payments where I went.

William, I just recently got my CDL and I don't have great credit. I'm not sure what your issue is going to a CDL training school, but to let you know you can use FASFA as well. I lucked out and a company I was working for paid 95% of my tuition so I only had to pay $230 out of pocket and it covered everything.
Another option is that many companies have their own training school and even pay you while during training school but you usually end up signing a contract for ..... im gonna say about 15 - 18 months. You do actually pay your tuition cost back to them.

I would not begin to be able to tell you son, I have lived my whole life without any license at all

Mr. Lemons, before I tell you this, I would advise you to at least check out the companies you would want to work for, as well as to go by any truck stop and talk to the truckers, as they will give you the lowdown on what's up. As with any business or job, you will always find issues or problems, so remember that & do your own research for the final conclusion's as to what will suit you.., but you will get in insight of the trucking world.
In 2008, I went to a college in Waxahachie, Tx for USA Trucking which cost about $1300.00, which they bill you for and you make payments on. They will pay for your transportation there and the hotel room, etc. They give you the book to study, and driving classes. I got my CDL License.... I would not normally be recommending them as I was totally screwed over by them, but for a man it will probably work for you. LOL I ended up going to school and worked for CRE (CR ENGLAND) out of Salt Lake City, Utah There was / is a school in Cedar Hill, Tx as well as in Utah. I went to the one in Tx, and they paid for my bus ticket there & put you up in a motel as well. Your shuttled everyday to and from classes. Once completed your assigned with a driver and spend a couple weeks out on the road driving with him. Your then dropped off in Salt Lake for more training and go out again with another trainer for a few weeks. If all goes well you will receive your own truck and go to work. If you were to choose CRE, my only advise to you would be not to fall for the BS they try to sell you on buying your own truck through them. Go as a company driver until you are sure this is what you want to do and know you can handle the road life. There is a lot that goes in to being an owner operator, its not as easy as they make it seem. Unless your really familiar with the trucking business and fully & completely understand every aspect of it, don't buy in to what they or anyone else tries to sell you on owning your own truck. You can google anything pertaining to truck driving, schools. etc.. You can even find magazines at the truck stop near the fuel lines about jobs and so on, call them, talk to a recruiter and get the info you require. There are a lot of companies looking for drivers right now. If you want to ask me anything you can reach me at: gypsylady0109 on the hoo. I hope this helps, good luck in your search and drive safe... Hi William, Chattanooga State Community College has a CDL training program and offers a full scholarship to students who qualify. The US government has been sinking hundreds of thousands of dollars into community colleges and trucking businesses to engage more people into the truck driving industry. Don't hesitate on minute and get your application in right away before those incentives go away. Here's the link for the school website - https://www.chattanoogastate.edu/

Sure thing! Go to DMV , get the Cdl book. Read it repeatably, take pages of notes, go online take " all" the free practice tests. Do them again! Go to local BMV, take real test. It's free till you pass, cost me $85 to get temp Cdl B. Tske Air brake test too. Now, call around, find a 3rd party test station who has a testing truck on site. Here it cost $185.+ normal test fees. Plan on 2 runs at it. Each place has "their own way" .you might ask for their "sheet " they give student's. May get it 1 st pass then! Take a pointer stick & touch Each item as you name it. Failure to touch it, is a missed point! Once you pass pre trip & driving. Go back to BMV, before paying the actual license fee , take :tanker , air, has-mat tests. H-mat is seperate, & tough! And more , finger printed & $ 85 to get TSA CLEARENCE, and takes 6 week's to boot. These are free at this point, later on will cost extra! This is how I did it for under $500, outta pocket. Good luck! Slim49
