help - ageism!!
I have read a lot about ageism on the community and I feel like it applies to older as well as younger job-seekers. I have a lot of trouble landing a job due to being a teenager. Do people feel like this is affecting them and if so, in what way? Is there any way to avoid this?
Yes, but it is two different issues. Older people have a harder time getting a job because of limited years remaining to work, health issues (insurance), and sometimes slightly diminishing work skills. Young people sometimes have issues because they lack experience, and they many times have scheduling limitations. There will never be an even playing field until everyone is the same age, and has the same experience level, so everyone is looking for a position they can fit into. So the question isn't can you find a job, it's more at what job do they need your skillsets. Good Luck...
Find a friend or relative in a field where they can get you in. Supermarkets are always a great start. Good Luck
