How can I get back into my field if I have been away several years? > I have been applying for jobs similar to what I used to do, however, more skills are required. Will getting additional training be sufficient for "recent experience" since I have not been able to land a job in my field for several years, though I have had interviews?Thank you!

Not sure what field you are in however I notice you are not far from my location. Is there a company you are targeting? If you want to connect on LinkedIn, maybe I have contacts you are interested in.

Volunteer! Look to see if there are any volunteer-type jobs in the field you want to get into. Often, people are brought in to "help", then when they prove themselves, are brought on as salaried. That way you can also get current on what you need to know. If the job doesn't have "volunteers", set a meeting up with the manager and let him/her know you are willing to take a lesser job...then in time you will get back. You have to figure out a plan that will be "beneficial" t the company...not to you.

Hi Ray, I see you were in the software field. I think with ANY tech job you will need to show you are current with your skills. So whether this is courses you took or any experience you had to show you are fresh and ready to go (despite your break) would be helpful. You absolutely can get back into it but don't forget to update your resume, and if you can't find any experience right away you could consider doing some volunteer work just to get you going. Wishing you the best!
Well I uses to do collection for 6 years and got out of it for 6 years and it was hard to go back in they wanted me to do customer service to get back into collection to me I knew I still knew how to collect I didn't need to do customer service to collect so I'm not sure why they thought so but I say once you got it it's still there so just do what you know
