The most common question asked during an interview is, “Why should we hire you?” Answer these 5 simple questions to help you pull your pitch together in NO time!
1 What are the 5 strongest reasons I am a great fit for this job?
2 What are 4 positive things I can say about the company, and how can I connect what they do to what I can bring to them?
3 What are 3 positive things I did in my previous job that I can offer in this one?
4 Why do I really want this job beyond having a steady paycheck and/or benefits/other perks? Make sure to focus on what you can bring to them not the other way around!
5 What is the EXACT job description (write it down) and how do MY skills match up with it? Be as specific as possible.
Tips/tricks
-Tailor your pitch to the company, focus more on them than yourself.
-Keep your pitch simple, short and memorable. It should be 30 seconds to a minute but not much longer. -----
-They want to know what you bring to the table so stick to your plan and don’t lose focus.
-By the end of the pitch they should know who you are, what you do, and what you are looking for.
By answering these questions you will know what to say, feel confident and OWN the interview!
What do YOU do to get your pitch ready?

Hi Ashley, Thanks for this information, I always find your post's very helpful and interesting. Take care. Yvonne

Good advice! Thx!

Great advice! The only thing I would add is figure out what their biggest 2-3 challenges or opportunities are for that group before the interview and make sure your answers address them. By being specific on how you add value to their team will make it much easier for the interviewer to give you the green light. When I mock interview people the biggest problem I always see is interviewees making the response too much about them and not what the company needs.

Do my homework to know the company's mission.

I once went to an interview with a shirt and tie and just my underwear on. the boss said what happen to your pants? I wasn't ready.

The one question that got me years ago was " Why should I NOT hire you?" After a very long pause I responded with " Because I don't know how to answer this question." I thought I was ready and if he would have asked me why he should have hired me I would have known exactly how to answer but NO! I had to get the question that made my heart stop and unable to speak. He laughed really hard and said that was a great answer and hired me. I'm sure employers are mainly interested in hearing your response under pressure. Point is be prepared but not so much that you sound arrogant or cocky. There was 20 people he interviewed that prepared that day same as you and came across harsh.or like nothing special. Your uniqueness stands out more than anything. Breath and be yourself. Let the real you shine and you can't go wrong!

I never received this one in my latest interview this last week. Rather it was "What inspired you to apply for this position?"
Creative regards,
Kim
